With the advent and proliferation of waterborne finishes, a whole new skill set is required in order to apply these fast drying finishes in an efficient and technically sound manner. UV cured finishes involve a whole new set of curing equipment, chemical compatibility, and product knowledge.
This is all, in addition to, the floor technician's requisite store of knowledge concerning wood species and sanding characteristics, staining characteristics, hardness and stability ratings.
It's no wonder that the hardwood flooring refinishing trade is slowly in decline in many parts of North America.
